Winter Break Movies (Superhero Themed)

Movies I’ve watched this winter break that are superhero/action themed.

X-Men: First Class - In 1962, the United States government enlists the help of Mutants with superhuman abilities to stop a malicious dictator who is determined to start world war III.

Review - It’s the generic superhero action movie. I loved the visual effects, the casting, the characters, I mean, I love X-Men movies in general. It doesn’t require too much brain effort to watch it and it’s entertaining. Nothing disappointing and I liked how it explains the history of the previous movies. Recommended if you like action movies.

Watchmen - In an alternate 1985 where former superheroes exist, the murder of a colleague sends active vigilante Rorschach into his own sprawling investigation, uncovering something that could completely change the course of history as we know it.

Review - Compared to other superhero movies, it’s a lot more slow-moving. I feel like it was trying (a bit too hard) to be stylistic and stand out (from other superhero movies) that it sort-of fails and some parts seem unecessary. Although the some of the stylistic elements were nice. The cinematography was pretty good, action sequences were exciting, plot twist was pretty unexpected, the narration was interestingly incorporated. Definitely worth a try though I won’t say I’d actually watch it again.

Thor - The powerful but arrogant warrior Thor is cast out of the fantastic realm of Asgard and sent to live amongst humans on Earth, where he soon becomes one of their finest defenders.

Review - oh gosh, this is actually quite a simple but funny and cute movie. But no worries, it’s still got its spectacular action scenes and visually stunning otherworlds. I enjoyed it, it was a simple and entertaining film. Recommended if you like action movies.
